- What is hand therapy?
Hand therapy involves the rehabilitation of the upper limb – elbow, wrist and hand. Hand therapy assists a person to regain maximum use of his or her upper limb after injury, surgery or the onset of disease.
Treatment is provided by a hand therapist, who is first trained as an occupational therapist and then obtained a post graduate qualification in the rehabilitation of hand and upper limb conditions.
Hand therapists treat patients through mobilisation, massage, exercises, activity participation and custom-made splints to encourage healing of the hand and upper limb and enable you to perform your required functional daily tasks.
